Now celebrating over 25 years as the creative force behind the unique Swiss-Canadian jewellery brand JdJ, designer John de Jong has become known internationally for his signature Couture & Studio Collections as well as bespoke commissions.
Naturally fascinated by gems from an early age, John has had his eye on the jewellery world since childhood. Raised between Switzerland & Canada his interest in the visual arts led to studies in Art History in Boston, Gemology in Los Angeles, and finally, jewellery studies in London and Florence which inspired the brand concept launch of JdJ Jewels in 1995.
Since establishing the eponymous brand, John’s lifelong passion for design and gems has evolved to produce distinct jewels that are easily recognized for their simplicity, quality, and use of vibrant colored stones – each piece merging design and craftsmanship seamlessly to produce dynamic creations. Art, architecture, and nature continue to be the key inspirations for his stone-focused work.
Sought after and collected by a discerning clientele, JdJ is frequently seen on the red carpet and has been featured in Town & Country, Elle, Bunte, Hello, O the Oprah Magazine, Fashion Magazine, The Globe & Mail, and The Washington Post.
JdJ has also enjoyed milestone recognition on the cover of “Masters of Canadian Jewellery Design”, as one of a handful of contemporary designers chosen by Christies Geneva to design unique pieces for their Magnificent Jewels auction and to create custom earrings for Canada’s First Lady, Madame Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, for a milestone White House State Dinner.
Most recently, JdJ is pleased to add newly married Princess Sophie Alexandra Von Bayern to the notable list of women wearing JdJ, creating custom-made Diamond Sevilla motif earrings for the bride and unique gemstone jewels for the Bavarian royal wedding party this May in Munich … creating what has now become the latest addition to the family of Studio designs… the “Sophie” Collection.
